Hospital priorities
As Houston's epicenter moves westward, the pediatric population in a broad area stretching from Sugar Land to Bryan-College Station is currently estimated to be approximately 400,000, and this number is expected to grow 51 percent between 2010 and 2015. Once again, Texas Children's is anticipating the needs such growth will create and is responding with the creation of one of the most comprehensive suburban children's hospitals in the nation.
This new hospital campus, located on a 55-acre tract near Barker Cypress Road, will include a full range of comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services, including 98 immediate- and acute-care beds, an emergency center and operating rooms, along with diagnostic imaging and physical medicine/rehabilitation services. It also will include a medical building with offices for primary care physicians and specialists.
