Ronald McDonald Care Mobile serves the Hobby airport area in southeast Houston

Refer a child

Schools or agencies that want to refer children to one of the pediatric mobile clinics should:

• Print a copy of the child’s immunization record. Tell the parent to bring the copy to the clinic.
• Call the mobile clinic before sending an ill patient.
• Give the parent the clinic’s phone number.
• Schedule appointments for well-child visits.

Vaccinations and ill visits are handled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Donate to Texas Children's Mobile Clinic Outreach

Your gift to Texas Children’s Mobile Clinic Outreach Program will help build a community of healthy children by paying for medical equipment, lab fees, medications and medical supplies.

With your assistance, the free clinics can continue to provide basic health services to medically underserved children in Houston.

Make a gift to the program, or call 832-824-6806.

As part of its goal to build a community of healthy children, Texas Children’s operates mobile clinics to provide trusted, high-quality medical services to children who normally might not have the opportunity to receive health care.

Texas Children’s mobile clinics travel to low-income, largely Hispanic neighborhoods to provide free health care to children ages 0 to 18 who do not have insurance.

The free clinics provide:

  • Well-child and illness examinations

  • Vaccinations and immunizations (shots)

  • Non-emergency care

  • Help applying for public health insurance, such as Medicaid, CHIP and Harris County Gold Card

  • Referrals to medical and social services as needed

  • Health care and nutrition education for children and families

  • Referrals to permanent and trusted medical homes

During the school year:

SuperKids Mobile Clinic serves the Gulfton area in southwest Houston.

Ronald McDonald Care Mobile serves the Hobby airport area in southeast Houston.

In the summer, the mobile clinics provide free shots and health care in many other areas of Houston.

Onboard each mobile clinic is a bilingual staff, including a Texas Children’s pediatrician, pediatric nurse practitioner, licensed vocational nurse and medical assistant. Community volunteers also help.

Working toward healthier families
Often, families seen at the mobile clinics are nervous about seeking medical care or feel they cannot afford the expense. Texas Children’s mobile clinics help them feel more at ease. And the clinics help the entire community because they:

• Decrease use of emergency rooms by helping families find primary care physicians
• Improve vaccination rates
• Promote healthy lifestyles with health care and nutrition education
• Increase the number of children with health insurance
