  Texas Children’s Protective Health Services

A multidisciplinary team of a pediatrician, social worker, child life specialist and nurse evaluates children and adolescents suspected of having been sexually abused or assaulted. Patients are referred to the program by physicians, psychologists, counselors, therapists, Children's Protective Services, law enforcement officers and parents. The team also supervises the care of children and adolescents who present at the Texas Children's Hospital's Emergency Center with complaints of sexual abuse and assault. Patients are seen primarily for a physical examination, psychosocial evaluation and referral for counseling and therapy.
