Children’s announces partnership with Children’s Miracle Network
HOUSTON (Jan. 19, 2005) – Texas
Children’s Hospital, the nation’s largest pediatric hospital, is
partnering with the Children’s Miracle Network to raise funds for
life-saving medical care for young people.
Children’s Miracle Network, a non-profit organization dedicated to
saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for
pediatric hospitals across the nation, is an alliance of 170 premier
children’s hospitals.
Each year, member hospitals join with sponsors throughout the
community for a variety of activities to raise funds. In addition,
radiothons and a telethon are held to tell the stories of the
incredible work performed throughout the hospitals. One hundred
percent of the funds raised in the Greater Houston area through these
events will benefit Texas Children’s. The fund-raising events,
featuring stories of courage by children battling medical problems
from asthma and premature birth to cancer and pediatric AIDS, have
raised more than $2.2 billion nationwide over the past 18 years.
Texas Children’s will join with national sponsors including Wal-Mart,
McLane-Valero, Dairy Queen, RE/MAX International, Blockbuster, Credit
Unions for Kids, Marriott International, Foresters and many others for
year-round fund-raising activities and events.
Texas Children’s, renowned for its expertise and breakthroughs in the
treatment of cancer, premature infants, cardiogenic disorders,
diabetes, asthma, HIV/AIDS and attention-related disorders, has cared
for more than 1 million children since 1954.
“Texas Children’s Hospital provides the highest level of care to all
patients, regardless of their ability to pay,” said Mark A. Wallace,
president and CEO of Texas Children’s. “Participation in the
Children’s Miracle Network will support us in that effort.”
